To improvise on the melody of a song while leaving its lyric unaltered is a difficult and delicate process, but Georgia Mancio brings it off with such grace that she almost makes it sound easy. Her cool, expressive voice finds a perfect foil in Nigel Price‘s guitar – or guitars, rather, since he plays both electric and at least two acoustic ones in the course of these 10 well-chosen standards. That excellent bassist Julie Walkington also plays on most tracks, and is the sole accompanist on one. In all respects an accomplished and beguiling set.
