Come Rain or Come Shine – new album and 4 star review

“There is a warm fullness about all the performances on this disc with the voice strong in all registers…[and] some of the best support I’ve heard in this format by guitar and bass…. more than a little special”   – Jazz Journal ****

Georgia and award-winning guitarist, Nigel Price, combine their talents in this beautiful and intimate new recording of jazz standards.

Part duo, part trio (with long-term collaborator, bassist Julie Walkington), Come Rain or Come Shine was recorded completely live with no overdubbing in a small studio over two afternoons.  The result is an organic, deceptively simple set of ten songs with story telling and improvisation as equal partners.

Everywhere there is evidence of the unity between the players: the breezy trading in Falling in Love With Love; the seamless time signature changes of Gone With The Wind; the colla voce moments of Alone Together.  The solitary Brazilian song, Manha de Carnaval is prefaced by the haunting bass and voice duet, Softly As I Leave You and We’ll Be Together Again begins unusually with an instrumental chorus before the vocal closes out.

Rain, shine, light, shade: all is to be found here.
