★★★

Here’s the latest word from a painstaking London singer-songwriter whose dulcet Anglo-Italian tones serve an unusually enquiring mind. Always surrounded by good players (flautist Gareth Lockrane, pianists John Pearce, Kate Williams and Tim Lapthorn), sweet Georgia likes strong melodies and original lyrics.

Political duplicity and inner-city angst flit among her self-penned images for seven originals here, including three by the talented Lapthorn and one (Question The Answer) by US guitar ace Pat Metheny. There’s a little scatting, including a Mark Murphy-is guest spot by Ian Shaw, but the overall ambience os one of tranquility, consonance and intelligence.
