She has always been good at building an interesting set, but with this, her third album, Georgia Mancio surpasses herself. A show tune and a piece by Jobim blend unaffectedly with imaginative treatments of Tom Waits, Pat Metheny and some of her own compositions. Three top pianists take turns in the accompaniment, along with her long-standing sidemen, drummer Dave Ohm and flautist Gareth Lockrane, plus cellist Gregor Riddell. Ian Shaw joins in for a couple of duets that have far more substance than the usual guest-singer spot. An absorbing hour’s listening.
