Jazz Podium (Germany)

The pieces on this album ‘Songbook” (Roomspin Records 1923) at first listen sound like recordings of the Great American Songbook.  But the lyrical balladic words are all written by the award-winning English singer Georgia Mancio herself, with music from the pen of the ingenious pianist Alan Broadbent, both accompanied by their trio. Her velvety voice and clear articulation fit perfectly with the melodically sensitive playing of Broadbent, creating twelve highly intense musical miniatures of timeless elegance.
