Era Jazz (Poland)

The  subtle and extremely evocative album ” Quiet Is The Star” is another session of singer and songwriter Georgia Mancio and Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Alan Broadbent . The album is an obvious continuation of their previous success: the best-selling album ” Songbook ” from 2017. The prestigious British magazine Jazzwise recommends the duo’s new album – along with new recordings by Charles Lloyd, Gretchen Parlato, Archie Shepp & Jason Moran – as one of the most important albums of the year.

“Quiet Is The Star” is another set of subtle, melancholic, but jazzy coherent songs by Georgia Mancio, colored with subtle phrases and pianist improvisations. The song ” When You’re Gone From Me ” is significant in the set , containing music written by teenager Alan Broadbent (aged 16), which now – more than half a century later – takes on a new vigor in Georgia Mancio’s interpretation. The album emphasizes the creative purity and artistic equality of the duo in co-authored works: voice and piano merge into one artistic confession. Georgia Mancio is extremely authentic and convincing in her interpretations of her texts, and the pianist’s virtuosity perfectly complements the suggestive and poetic declarations.
